Club members once again enjoyed a night of top class greyhound racing at one of the sport’s key centres.
The annual Dransfields CIU Greyhound race night held at Sheffield’s Owlerton Stadium is always an enjoyable evening, and this year was no exception.
Sponsored by Dransfields, leading UK supplier of a range of club and pub fruit machines, quiz machines and jukeboxes, the event saw dogs competing in a total of 14 races, including the Dransfields Sheffield Stadium Sprint.
A number of CIU officials joined club colleagues from across the country at the event, including General Secretary Kenneth D Green CMS, President George Dawson CMD, and NEC members John Batchelor and Les Hepworth CMD.
Two clubs shared the glory of winning the CIU Greyhound Sweepstake, with New Silkworth RBL Club and West Oxford Democrats Club both putting their bets on Heat 5, Trap 6. The clubs split the £1,200 prize money between them.
As the only approved national providers of gaming, amusement and lottery machines to the CIU, Dransfields were once again proud to sponsor the race night, and Managing Director Chris Haley also presented the prize to the winner of the Dransfields Sheffield Stadium Sprint.
Kenneth Green said: “It was another great night out at Owlerton Stadium and it was very pleasing to see so many CIU people enjoying the food and hospitality.
“Thank you to all the clubs who came along and the suppliers who sponsored races on the night.”
