The key event for CIU delegates was held on the morning of Saturday, April 18, when the 162nd Annual Meeting took in the hotel’s Function Room. Delegates considered the 2025 Annual Report and Financial Report, and hear key note speakers on all aspects of club life.
Chris Haley had been invited to give a presentation to the delegates updating them on the Gambling Commission’s Gaming Machine Technical Standards Consultation.
The presentation was well received and the CIU expressed thanks for the work that Dransfields had done to engage with clubs and to encourage them to respond to the Consultation. This engagement had resulted in clubs submitting over 700 responses, the majority of which were strongly opposed to the Gambling Commission proposed changes. Clubs overwhelmingly were of the view that the proposals would have a significant detrimental impact and be difficult for them to implement.
