Fierce battle for quizzing top spot

We always enjoy the annual CIU Conference weekend in Blackpool and this year was no exception.
As the recommended supplier of gaming, amusement and lottery products to the CIU, Dransfields were once again the proud sponsors of the very popular National Quiz which took place at the Norbreck Castle Hotel on the last day of the event. The quiz proved an enjoyable and exciting end to the Conference weekend.
After several highly competitive rounds of top quality quizzing, overseen by Redtooth quizmaster Dave Bill, last year’s winners Gosforth Empire Social Club handed the baton over to new quiz champions.
This year, the team from Newbottle WMC in Tyne and Wear beat them to the title - by just one point!
Gosforth took second place with 67 points to Newbottle’s 68. Clarence A from Newport, South Wales came in third with 65 points and the team from Ashford Road Club in Swindon were fourth with a score of 62.
As always, the quiz was a great opportunity for club members from across the country to get together and socialise on the final afternoon of the conference – thanks to everyone who took part and congratulations to the winning teams.
