And the Dransfields CIU National Quiz winner is...

In our last blog we covered the events of this year’s CIU’s Beers & Trades exhibition and Annual Meeting, held in Blackpool in April. This national event provides superb opportunities for members to meet suppliers, colleagues and the CIU Executive team. It provides a valuable platform for discussion, debate and the direction of the club movement as a whole. 

For us, it’s a great event: allowing us to meet existing and prospective club customers, and to show them our range of gaming machines, including the Power Play, which we launched at the event last year. The feedback on these B4 digital club gaming machines has been superb, with clubs that have installed them reporting significant income increases.

But conference weekend is not all about work. Dransfields is proud to continue as the Sponsor of the CIU National Quiz, the grand final of which took place at The Norbreck Castle Hotel, Blackpool, on Saturday April 11th.

Ten teams battled it out for the title, under the expert eye of renowned quizmaster, Dave Bill.

Each round was hotly contested, with spot prizes being awarded. But it was the overall title that each team coveted. In the end, just half a point separated the top two teams.

So, congratulations to the winners, Gosforth Empire Social Club, Newcastle-on-Tyne. They won £500 and tickets to a Premier League game of their choice.

Second place went to Newbottle WMC, Sunderland, who won £200.

Third place went to Clarence Club, Newport, South Wales, who won £100.

As always, we were amazed at the combined knowledge of the teams, and would like to extend our hearty congratulations to all who took part.
